Given Airbus' less than stellar record on delivering aircraft on time, I would guess that in reality the A350 may be finally delivered in final form sometime in the next century.

Airbus is in very serious trouble, continuing problems with the A380 and the A400M are drawing badly needed technical expertise away from new development on the A350.

Emirates while outwardly putting on a brave face is ordering 777's by the dozen, and may be very close to placing an order for 747I's, they can ill afford to endure any further delay in their expansion plans and can no longer wait for Airbus to get their act together on the A380. As many know losing face in the Middle East is not a popular option, and Emirates is facing that prospect now.
